About Me

My love for cats began as a young child, as my mother was raising Himalayans at the time.  I can vaguely remember sitting on the lawn next to the daffodils holding those kittens in the picture to the left.  I also used to curl up with a book with a kitten nearby, and I often snuck kittens to bed with me as well.  My aunt also bred Abyssinians and I have many childhood memories of going to her house and playing with them, especially around Christmas time.  As I got older, my mother bred Persians.  I never dreamed that I would grow up to breed cats like she did!  In fact due to my husband’s allergies, we did not have any pets for about 20 years!  However we eventually discovered that his allergies had changed and somehow he could now tolerate furry pets!  It started with our Pomeranian and then quickly grew to include a small herd of cats!  To learn more about us, visit our “About Us” page.

How Rainkissed Ragdolls Started

Once our family got our 1st ever dog, I really wanted to add a cat to the mix!  Then I had to decide what type of cat we wanted, and I started doing lots of research on different cat breeds.  Since I had grown up with Himalayans and Persians I was naturally drawn towards long-haired, predominantly white, pointed cats.  I had heard about how wonderful Ragdolls were and I was fortunate enough to find a wonderful breeder in Washington State who had been breeding them for over 20 years.  I expressed my interest in potentially breeding and I was given a rare opportunity to do just that.  I later made connections with other Ragdoll breeders as well, and they have all been invaluable to me on this journey.  The kittens we have produced have brought so much joy to our family as well as others, and we have felt truly blessed to be able to breed these wonderful cats!  One day my husband was out in our garden and it was sprinkling, and the inspiration for naming our Ragdoll cattery “Rainkissed Ragdolls” came to him.  Pictured right is our first Ragdoll kitten Trixie, when we first brought her home!

What We Offer

One of our main goals at Rainkissed Ragdolls is to keep things small!  We don’t produce a large number of kittens per year.  We started with 2 queens and aim to never have more than 4 queens.  This allows us to focus on our litters more than the average larger cattery is able to do.  Our kittens are never caged and are raised underfoot as part of the family.  Since my husband and myself both work from home, the kittens and cats are never alone!

Our queens have been genetically tested through Optimal Selection, and you can see their DNA reports under their pictures on the “Queens” page.  They are negative for HCM, PKD, and FELV/FIV.  The fathers of the kittens have also been tested through Optimal Selection as well as UC Davis and are also healthy.  My cats are also all TICA registered of course and will come with their first 2 sets of shots (FRVPV- Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia Vaccine), and will be dewormed.  We can also provide pedigree information and references upon request.

Kittens will come altered and we do not release kittens before 12 wks. of age.  We reserve the right to hold on to them even longer if deemed necessary.  In addition, we provide weekly photos and frequent videos of the kittens via our Facebook page and Instagram.  We also share a Shutterfly album of each litter with the new owners, after all of the kittens have gone to their new homes.  At the time of pick up, we also provide a blanket with the scent of its mother/litter mates as well as some food and toys (including some homemade ones).

The Process

If you decide you want to adopt a kitten from us, we first ask you to fill out an application form to see if we feel you are a good fit for a Ragdoll.  We will then communicate with you via email, phone, and/or a virtual call.  If both parties are in agreement that this would be a good fit, we ask for a deposit of $500.  Why a deposit?  We ask for a deposit first off to show us that you are serious.  I can’t hold kittens for people who then later change their minds.  It’s our responsibility to find good homes for these kittens, and we take it seriously.  This deposit is non-refundable, but it is transferable to another kitten in the future.  We will make every effort to match you with your desired gender, color, pattern, and so on.

Throughout the waiting period you will watch your kitten grow via our Facebook page, and I also advise you to check out my blog posts about bringing your new kitten home, recommended supplies, introducing a new kitten to a resident cat (if applicable), etc.  I do allow you to visit your kitten around 6 wks. of age, after you have made a deposit.  Video calls can also be arranged, especially for people who live farther away.  We will set up a time for a rendezvous around 12 wks. of age for pick up, and sometimes we are able to meet people part way or even deliver if you are not too far, just ask!  We can also possibly deliver to people living farther away, for a fee which can be discussed.  The fee would depend on the distance.  Alternatively, I can help connect people to a flight nanny.

When we meet I will provide you with 2 copies of the contract to sign, as I will keep a copy for myself.  I will also provide you with a “How To Care for Your Ragdoll” sheet as well as their vaccination record, along with a bag of goodies which will include a blanket that smells like mom and litter mates.  Also included is a free 30 days of pet insurance through Trupanion and I will email you the TICA registration slip for your kitten.  You will also pay the remaining balance at this time, unless you have worked out a prearranged payment plan with me (to be paid off by time of pick-up).  We accept multiple forms of payment including Venmo, Paypal, and cash.  The total price of your kitten will be approximately $2,200.
