Kitten Updates

Updated:  8/29/2024

Willow & Pearl are both expecting Christmas kittens!!

Currently we are expecting 2 litters of kittens!  We will be offering a special “Santa delivery” for those who have a young child/ren and are interested!  Read below for more information about the specific litters. :)  We always have an unofficial wait list but don’t take deposits until kittens are born.  Once born, I will go through and contact people who have submitted an application in the order in which they were received.  At that point they may choose to make a deposit to go on the official wait list, or not.

Willow

Willow is expecting babies with Mr. Bennett of Masterpiece Ragdolls.  Mr. B. is seal dominant meaning he can only produce seal colored offspring.  The possible patterns between these two are bicolor and mitted.  Neither is lynx so there will be no lynx in this litter.  It’s possible to get all mitted or all bicolor, but a mix is most likely.  Willow and Mr. B. both have nice deep, blue eyes so I am expecting the babies to inherit this trait.  Our litters tend to be “boy heavy” but you never know!  Boys do tend to be the biggest loves!  Willow is due in late September and her babies will be ready just in time for Christmas!  This will be Willow’s last litter as we are planning to retire her with one of her babies.

Pearl

Pearl was paired with Prufrock of Masterpiece Ragdolls.  He comes from the same amazing cattery that Mr. Bennett comes from back east, WillowTreeRags in MA.  Prufrock is extra floppy and is a seal lynx bicolor who carries dilute.  Since Pearl also carries dilute, this means they can have seal and blue babies.  Chocolate and lilac are not possible since neither carry chocolate.  Since Prufrock is a bicolor and Pearl is a colorpoint, the litter will most likely be all mitted.  Lynx is another possible pattern, and lynx is considered an overlay pattern so it can be in addition to the mitted.  Since both of them are seal and seal is dominant, most of the babies will be seal and it's possible for all of them be seal.  Blue is a recessive color.  Since this is Pearl's first litter, we are not expecting it to be a large litter since first litters are usually smaller.  Pearl is a very sweet girl with a very silky coat!  Pearl is also unique because she has a bit of a Birman look to her!  She is due in late September, about a week before Willow is, and her babies will also be ready right before Christmas!

The unofficial wait list is open.  I don't collect any deposits until I have actual kittens!  At that time I contact people based on the order of applications received and then offer for them to make a deposit if interested at that time.

Do you want to learn more about Ragdoll colors, patterns, and breeding possibilities?  Below is a chart of the 3 basic patterns of Ragdolls (colorpoint, mitted, bicolor) and some pictures to go along with that.  Lynx is a pattern that can be in conjunction with any of the 3 basic patterns listed below.

Lynxes

Also, just what IS a lynx?  The lynx pattern is also known as the tabby pattern, and it simply means the Ragdoll will have stripes on different parts of its body.  On lighter colored Ragdolls such as lilacs and chocolates, these stripes won't be as noticeable.  However on blue and seal Ragdolls, it is much more prominent.  The stripes will be visible on the tail, legs, and the face.  On the face the lynx pattern will make it appear as though the kitten is wearing white "eyeliner."  There will also be a contrast around the edge of the ears which will show the darker color on the outer edge and then lots of "white fuzz" on the inside of the ears.  Lynxes tend to have more noticeable ear tufts than non-lynxes.  In addition, the nose pads on lynxes will NOT match their coat color.  For example, a regular seal Ragdoll will have a black nose as part of their pattern, including their nose pad.  However a seal lynx Ragdoll will have a much lighter nose pad, although the color of the nose pad will vary.  See pictures below.

Blazes

In addition, some kittens have blazes (or white streaks in their pattern) as shown below.  Blazes can be either symmetrical or asymmetrical and vary in size and shape.  Blazes have to do with the white spotting factor which determines how much white a kitten will have (colorpoint, mitted, or bicolor).

Sometimes other things occur such as bigger, smaller, or uneven "mittens" (on mitted Ragdolls).  These all add to a Ragdoll's uniqueness! :)

Minks

What is a mink Ragdoll?  A mink Ragdoll is known for having an even silkier coat than a traditional Ragdoll (if you can even imagine that!), and they have richer colors in their coats.  They can come in all of the colors including the 4 basic ones:  seal, blue, chocolate, and lilac.  The seal mink Ragdoll is my personal favorite as the coat has a very rich, cocoa brown color.  Although traditional seals are known for having blackish brown points (face, paws, tail), a seal mink looks very rich brown.  I also think blue mink Ragdolls are quite lovely.  The mink eyes also come in various colors including blue, aqua, green or even yellow but mainly come in aqua.  In the breeding world, there is much controversy about whether or not minks are “real” Ragdolls.  However TICA acknowledges minks but just does not allow them to be shown in cat shows.  Pictured below is a sister/brother pair, a blue mink/mitted and a seal mink (colorpoint).  Aren't they lovely?!?  In the future minks will be referred to as Cherubim.

Below you will find a breeding chart that I like to refer to.  For those interested, Willow is BbDd and Mr.Bennett is BBDD.  These charts are not 100% accurate but rather act as a guide.
