Below are some of my recommend products for your new Ragdoll kitten!  I am not an Amazon affiliate or a partner of any kind with any of these companies.  I simply wanted to share what I feel are good products, many of which I already own or have used!  Click on the pictures to see where the products come from.  I hope that this list does not feel overwhelming!  Obviously you do not have to get everything on this list, and these are merely suggestions to think about. :)

Cat Trees

I personally have the wooden cat tree in my bedroom and what I really like about it is that it has removable cushions for washing!  This one can be found on Amazon.  I do have to point out though that it doesn’t have the biggest ledges for big cats, and trust me your Ragdoll kitten WILL grow into a big cat! ;)  But it works!

I think the floral cat tree is the cutest one I have EVER seen!  I don’t own one YET, but I think it is just adorable!!  It’s made by KBS Pets but I found this particular one on their Instagram page and on etsy.

From being on various Facebook Ragdoll groups, I learned about the company Cat Tree King that makes large cat trees for large cats!  I do not personally own one of these but I read they are good and quite sturdy!

The last cat tree shown is one that I have personal experience with, and I highly recommend this one!!  It’s big and sturdy like the ones on the Cat Tree King web site, but more affordable.  You can get this one from Chewy.com, a site that I love!

Cat Houses & Beds

The fabric pet house is pictured with a dog, but it is a great size for Ragdoll cats too!  I previously purchased this in size L (under 13 lbs.) and I found it to be the perfect size for an adult Ragdoll.  You could order a smaller size for a kitten, but it’s probably best to think ahead to how big your kitten may grow.  Ragdolls are known to be larger, sturdier cats with females that can reach 8-15 lbs. and males that can reach 12-20 lbs.  This pet house is from Amazon.

The cardboard scratcher cat houses are simply the CUTEST!!  I have used a handful of these for various kitten photo shoots, and they are just fun!  They have all sorts for different holidays, etc.  I did a photo shoot once in the sushi house and I even bought some plush sushi toys from Chewy as well to go with the house.

The furry cat bed is one of my favorites, as the texture mimicks mama’s coat.  I have often seen one of my kittens or cats “make bread” in this type of bed.  “Making bread” is where they move their paws back and forth and purr, it’s very self-soothing for them.  The round shape is also good for curling up, though I do have quite a bit of rectangular cat beds as well.

TIP:  You can find cheap cat beds at stores like Ross or T.J. Maxx.

Last but not least is the wooden doll bed from IKEA.  My daughter had one of these when she was little for her actual dolls, and we painted it white.  However do NOT paint this wooden doll bed for your kitty, because they will indefinitely chew on it and could ingest some paint which is obviously not healthy for them.  You can find blankets to go with the doll bed again from stores like Ross or T.J. Maxx.  Look in the baby section as those blankets will be much better quality than what you’d find in a pet store, and you will also have a much better variety to choose from.

Note:  You may want to wait on introducing things such as soft beds until you are sure your kitty is using the litter box consistently.  Even though I train my kittens to use the litter box, sometimes kitties might be tempted to tinkle on something soft.  When they first come home, a Costco cardboard box with an old blanket or towel will suffice. :)  Moving to a new home is a lot of stress on a new kitty, and we don’t want to give them an opportunity for an accident in the first few days home.  You can learn more about bringing your new kitty home HERE.

Litter Boxes & Litter

wood pellets

Above is a self-cleaning litter box for those interested.  Other breeders have told me this one works better than the official Litter Robot.

The PetKit Litter is a good litter for the self-cleaning litter box.

The “Tidy Cats” litter box is for those interested in using wood pellets for litter.  I personally own this litter box and we are a fan of using sifting style litter boxes.  I would recommend the size XL for your growing kitten, cats like lots of space to do “their business.”  This one also has high sides to help keep your walls clean.

Important Note:  Do NOT use the pellets given with this system!!  They can cause an intestinal blockage in your cat!!  Also you do not need to buy the potty pads sold with this system, any potty pads will do.

If you choose to get a sifting style litter box, you will want to get wood pellets like the ones pictured.  You can get these at places like Wilco or any farm supply store.  What happens when a cat urinates on the wood pellets is that it turns into sort of a “sawdust.”  This can then be raked around with a scooper and sifted through the holes in the sifting litter box.  A benefit of using wood pellets for litter is that it is significantly cheaper than regular litter, and it is also natural.

More Litter Stuff

Regular corn-based, clumping, flushable litter.

Another dust-free, clumping litter.

Help your new kitten solidify their litter box habits with litter attractant.

Nature’s Miracle enzyme cleaner, good for potty accidents.

Be careful that your kitten does not eat the above 2 types of litter!  I recommend sticking with pellets or tofu based until they are older.

Health, First Aid & Grooming

When a kitten goes to a new home, the stress of all the new changes can sometimes cause loose stools.  One way to combat that is to have canned pumpkin on hand, and to mix some into their wet food.  Conversely, you can offer them “Firm Up” which I have heard works very well.  This is also good for any time your kitten may get loose stools, like when transitioning to a new food, or if they are not feeling well.

In addition, probiotics are great for a cat’s overall digestive health.  I have not linked one above as there are just SO many to choose from!

“Wound Care” is good to keep on hand should your kitten get a cut or an injury.  This is an antimicrobial spray.

Terramycin is an antibiotic eye ointment which is commonly used by breeders when kittens or cats get a goopy, red, or irritated eye.

Pet-Tinic is a vitamin/mineral liquid oral supplement.

Spectrum Ten shampoo is a fancy cat shampoo that cat breeders often use on their show cats before a cat show.  You can also buy any kitten shampoo for your new kitten.

A double-sided brush is good for grooming your cat, as well as a metal comb like the ones shown.

You will need some kitty nail clippers.  Learn how to clip their nails by watching this video!  If your cat never takes to getting their nails clipped, or if you are very nervous about clipping them, you may either hire a groomer or get a restraint specifically made for this purpose.  However these restraints are made for older cats and not kittens.  It’s best to get your kitten used to getting their nails clipped while they are still little!

Food & Water

I feed my kittens Purina Pro Plan wet and dry foods.  Also cats LOVE Churus!  I would not recommend giving it to a kitten, or perhaps only as a rare treat as I wouldn’t want it to cause loose stools.  Churus are rich, however they are very handy for when you have to get a cat to take a pill.

For water, distilled is best and cats also love water fountains.  If you have well water, be warned that I have read that cats who drink well water often get giardia.  Giardia is very treatable but it’s best to stick to distilled or filtered water.
